A ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday morning marked the official opening of Randolph-Macon College’s Center for Student Success. This redesigned space within the McGraw-Page Library is a student-centered hub that houses offices overseeing academic success, accessibility, advising, international education, and career development, alongside the services of the McGraw-Page Library.

“It has been incredibly rewarding to be part of the vision, planning, and creation of this space,” said Dr. Tiffany Birdsong, Associate Provost and Dean for Student Success. “The Center for Student Success reflects our commitment to ensuring that every student has easy access to the support and resources they need to succeed.”

Bringing these resources all under the same roof helps optimize the great work already undertaken by staff members across RMC’s campus, an effort bolstered by the College’s expansion of Academic Success Advisors to every first-year student.

“This center represents a shared commitment to supporting our students holistically,” remarked RMC President Michael E. Hill. “Students should know that when they walk through these doors, they will find people who are ready to listen, to help, to encourage, and to challenge them.”

The Center for Student Success is a physical space that embodies the College’s integrated, intentional approach to student success, termed the Randolph-Macon “EDGE,” an acronym for the critical milestones along this individualized journey (Explore, Discern, Grow, Embark).

“It is not simply about helping a student get through a class,” President Hill said, highlighting the transformative potential of the space. “It is about helping a student discover what they are capable of becoming, it is about helping our students grow their minds, and, just as importantly, it is about helping them strengthen their character.”
