A new Guaranteed Admission Agreement (GAA) will provide a seamless transition from all of Virginia’s community colleges to Randolph-Macon College’s baccalaureate program. The new agreement expands on an existing transfer program between RMC and Reynolds Community College, which already has facilitated transfers for more than 200 students over the past two years.

Marking the new agreement, Randolph-Macon College hosted a signing ceremony on October 31, 2018 with Virginia Secretary of Education Atif Qarni, Glenn DuBois, chancellor for the Virginia Community College System (VCCS), and RMC President Robert R. Lindgren. The signing ceremony took place in RMC’s Dollar Tree Room in Brock Commons. Also in attendance was Dr. Paula Pando, president of Reynolds Community College.

The signing ceremony was highlighted in a story in the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Committed to Success
“Randolph-Macon College is committed to the success of every student,” said Lindgren at the ceremony. “We are delighted to provide this opportunity to talented students so that they can benefit from our extraordinary liberal arts education and dedicated faculty. RMC prepares students to be competitive in the marketplace and excel in graduate school, and we look forward to welcoming VCCS students into the Yellow Jacket family.”

“It is so important that all Virginians have access to higher education. I am elated to hear that Randolph-Macon College is committed to supporting students entering their institution from community colleges all over the Commonwealth,” said Qarni.

“We are grateful to be partnering with Randolph-Macon on this agreement and to be offering Virginia families yet another affordable pathway to a baccalaureate degree,” said DuBois. “These transfer agreements are really a win-win arrangement. Students and families gain an additional higher education pathway to consider, and RMC gains hardworking students who’ve experienced academic success and strive for more.”

From Reynolds to R-MC
Alfred Price ’19, a communication studies and religious studies major, shared remarks about the quality education he received at Reynolds Community College and how it prepared him for his academic career at Randolph-Macon College.

Price, who graduated from Reynolds Community College in 2016, is a dedicated Yellow Jacket. He is a Resident Assistant and a member of the Leadership Fellows, and he works in the RMC Marketing & Communications office, where he regularly tells visitors to the campus about his love for all things Randolph-Macon.

At the ceremony, Price was joined by fellow transfer students Winston Gallimore ’20, a political science major; Tina Reams ’20, a history major and education minor; Jacob Owen ’19, a physics and mathematics major; and Marissa Rilee ’19, a history major.

Guaranteed Admission Requirements
To be guaranteed admission to RMC, GAA students must graduate from a transfer-oriented degree program at a Virginia community college with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and submit an official transcript showing completion of the associate degree.

RMC will waive its application fee and eligible students can apply for scholarships designated especially for GAA students. Academic scholarships range from $14,000 to $21, 000, depending on the student’s GPA. All students are automatically considered for academic scholarships once they are granted admission to RMC, and no separate scholarship application is required.
