Randolph-Macon College President Robert R. Lindgren is pleased to announce that the college has a Guaranteed Admission Agreement with the George Washington University School of Nursing.

The agreement guarantees admission into the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program at GWU to students who have earned a bachelor’s degree at Randolph-Macon and meet the GPA and other requirements set forth by GWU. The ABSN is an accelerated program at the Ashburn campus of George Washington University, a premier school of nursing in northern Virginia.

“Randolph-Macon College is committed to the post-graduate success of each and every student,” says Lindgren. “We are delighted that this program provides one more avenue for our talented students to achieve their career goals.”

RMC Biology Professor James Foster, the director of the college’s Pre-med Advisory Committee, is thrilled with the news of this partnership. The Pre-med Advisory Committee assists students interested in a broad range of health-related professions.

“This agreement, as well as our recent Guaranteed Admission Agreement with Virginia Commonwealth University School of Nursing Program, is a testimony to RMC’s forward-thinking regarding the burgeoning field of nursing,” says Foster. “In addition, our medical school partnerships with GWU, Eastern Virginia Medical School, and Virginia Commonwealth University are further evidence that Randolph-Macon College gives students The Edge in post-graduate success by giving them access to premier programs.” The Edge is RMC’s four-year program, provided through The Edge Career Center, which gives students a competitive edge in the job market or the graduate-school admissions process.

Integral to the success of RMC’s pre-med and pre-health programs are Thomas Hubbard, M.D., D.D.S ’75, physician liaison for The Edge, and Joshua Quinn, medical career coordinator for The Edge.

“Students interested in health-related careers really benefit from all The Edge has to offer,” says Quinn. “It’s a developmental coaching approach that is a partnership between students, advisors, distinguished RMC medical alumni, medical schools and faculty. “With this teamwork, students achieve their academic goals, acquire relevant information and services, and make responsible decisions.”

The Pre-Health Program at RMC

Randolph-Macon is heavily committed to its Pre-Health Program, which has contributed to the successful health-related careers of students for more than 50 years and offers a strong foundation for a wide variety of medical fields. In addition to a rigorous pre-health curriculum, students interested in pursuing an advanced degree in medicine, dentistry, nursing, veterinary science, physical therapy, and other health sciences benefit from RMC’s strong alumni network.

The Wornom Pre-Medicine Endowment, which provides full tuition scholarships to qualified science students, gives Randolph-Macon students a competitive advantage in their post-graduate pursuits in the medical field.
