Students who are approved for accommodations through AR must request to utilize accommodations each semester. To do this, students must submit the accommodation request form in the ARO portal.
Students are strongly encouraged to meet with the instructors for the course(s) they choose to use accommodations for at the beginning of each semester to discuss the implementation of course accommodations.
Students who are approved for alternative testing accommodations with AR must schedule to request assessment proctoring in the Higgins Academic Center (HAC). Please note that students must schedule assessments THREE (3) BUSINESS DAYS in advance to test in the HAC. TWO (2) WEEKS are required for final exams.

Students who are requesting accommodations for a state or national standardized exam such as the NCLEX, Praxis, NCCPA, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, GMAT, etc. will need to follow the disability accommodation request process provided by those entities. Approval for accommodations at RMC does not guarantee approval of accommodations for a state or national standardized exams. Accessibility Resources (AR) staff can assist students with requesting accommodations on standardized assessments but recommend students contact AR at least six months prior to the exam to ensure there is sufficient time available to make such a request.
Disclosure of a disability to AR, disability documentation submitted by a student, and student accommodations are considered confidential. This information will not be noted on a transcript or permanent record. AR will not discuss a student’s disability or release any part of the documentation without the student’s informed consent.
Your most important role in using academic accommodations is letting your instructors know. After selecting your accommodations in the DSO for each class, your accommodation letter will be emailed to them. We strongly encourage you to meet with each instructor early in the semester to discuss how your accommodations will be implemented. These conversations may vary depending on your needs—and that’s completely okay.
Yes. AR strongly encourages students to contact their instructors about accommodations at the start of each semester. Accommodations cannot be applied retroactively, meaning they don’t cover situations that occurred before your accommodation letter was shared with your instructor.
No, you are in control of who you disclose to, when you disclose, and what you share. We have recommendations related to what to do and when to do it, which is completely up to you. We are happy to meet with you if you are not sure and would like to discuss this further.
