9/26: Sean Smith ’14 to Present Talk on Social Advocacy
Randolph-Macon College alumnus Sean Smith ’14 will present “Social Advocacy for Minority Communities and Intimate Partner Violence Victims” on September 26, 2019 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. in the Dollar Tree Room, Brock Commons (304 Henry St.). This event is free and open to the public. Map and Directions
Smith, who majored in women’s studies and minored in sociology and black studies, will discuss his experience of serving Spanish-speaking populations as a victim witness advocate. He will also share his perspective as an employee of color at a white-run nonprofit providing support services to predominantly minority communities, and his entrepreneurship as founder and CEO of Humanist Perspective Consulting, LLC.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for current RMC students, particularly those eager to explore how their interest in social justice and advocacy for underserved communities, can translate into career opportunities after graduation,” says Spanish Professor Kim Borchard.
This event is sponsored by the Department of Modern Languages, the Department of Criminology, and the Committee on Assemblies and Special Events (CASE).
