Our students, faculty, and staff are actively engaged in the local community, participating in campus-wide service events, volunteering, and service-learning to build connections and create lasting change. At our core, we are a compassionate and driven community dedicated to making a positive impact in the world around us with the collective aim to advance social progress. Our community service program is called SERVE, led by a student committee and supported by the Student Engagement Center.

The Big Event is a nationwide service day that fosters unity and service by engaging both the campus and the community.

Programs and Offerings

A vibrant community in pink shirts sits and stands on bleachers outdoors, surrounded by lush trees, ready to offer service together.
The SERVE committee is a group of student leaders committed to service events who plan and host campus-wide service days and other opportunities for students to find their passions.

Individual Meetings: Schedule a one-on-one meeting with our staff to discuss your interests and preferences. We’ll work together to find the perfect volunteer opportunity that aligns with your passions and goals. Contact esimmons@rmc.edu to schedule your meeting.

Student Organization Meetings: If you’re part of a student organization, we encourage you to reach out to our dedicated SEC staff for guidance. We’ll provide valuable insights on opportunities and help your organization identify impactful ways to contribute to the community.

Spotlights and Awards: Join us in celebrating the exceptional efforts of our students and organizations. Discover inspiring spotlights of individuals and groups doing great things on campus and in the community. We also recognize outstanding contributions through monthly awards, including the Community Hero Award for individuals and Helping Hands Award  for organizations. These two awards are automatically calculated through the Buzz service hour logging system at the beginning of each month.

Reflection Activities: Reflection is a vital component of any service experience. Explore our reflection activities, resources, and information to deepen your understanding and personal growth. Engage in thoughtful conversations about your experiences and discover how they relate to your life. Our staff members are available to facilitate discussions and provide support along the way.
