Randolph-Macon College’s Student Engagement Center maintains The Hull Closet to support Yellow Jackets, students, faculty, and staff, who have basic food, toiletries, and gender-affirming clothing needs. The Hull Closet is available to all Yellow Jackets. There is no income test or questions asked concerning need. We simply ask that those making use of the facility take only what they need and will use. We want to be certain that we are able to serve our community efficiently and effectively.

What do we support?

Food Insecurity and Basic Needs

Every year, approximately 30% of students who attend a college or university in the US experience some form of food insecurity. After paying tuition, buying books and/or paying room and board or rent, many students across the country find themselves in need of food or personal items such as toiletries.

Gender Affirming and Basic Clothing Needs

Randolph-Macon College is committed to supporting our students. Many students find that they, at times, have clothing needs for any number of reasons. Trans and Gender Nonconforming people can, also, have a hard time finding places where they can shop comfortably due to discrimination, can find it financially difficult to replace large amounts of clothes to help them express their gender and can find it financially difficult to purchase clothing due to job discrimination.

The Hull Closet also has a philanthropic partnership with gc2b to provide chest binders to our community for those who need them.
