The College recently celebrated its enduring culture of giving during the ninth annual Macon Day on Thursday, October 14, 2021.

Macon Day is a day-long call for gifts during which alumni, faculty, staff, parents, students, and friends combine their support to make a real difference in the future of RMC. This year’s goal was to raise $525,000 from 1,600 donors in 24 hours. The College is pleased to announce our community surpassed those goals, raising $556,896 from 1,712 Macon Day donors as of this writing. Those numbers continue to grow as donations are tallied.

It is inspiring to see such a prodigious outpouring of Yellow Jacket spirit around a shared goal. Funds raised during Macon Day will impact many areas of the Randolph-Macon experience, including academics, athletics, and student life.

Macon Day’s success is in large part due to the many alumni volunteers—including members of the Board of Trustees, Board of Associates, Society of Alumni Board, Young Alumni Board, Class Agent Program, and Yellow Jacket Board—who rallied the Macon community to invest in the College’s future with a gift today.

“It’s amazing to see how the continued success of Macon Day positively impacts our students, faculty, and staff by providing funds to many areas of the College, especially unrestricted giving to the Randolph-Macon Annual Fund,” said Rick Golembeski, Executive Director of Annual Giving. “We are greatly appreciative of the support from our alumni, parents, and friends of RMC!”

Tom Powers Award Winners

Earlier this month, Randolph-Macon’s Society of Alumni (SOA) recognized the outstanding achievements of five Yellow Jacket alums at the annual SOA Awards Banquet. During the banquet, the SOA also honored those classes of RMC graduates whose giving participation stood out among their peers.

The SOA Board created the Tom Powers Award in 2003 to recognize classes that reach the highest giving participation rate within their graduation decade. Dubbed “Mr. RMC” by his peers, Tom Powers ’31 was a tireless volunteer, inspiring alumni to both volunteer for and financially support Randolph-Macon.

The classes listed below are the winners for the 2020-2021 giving year (July 1, 2020-June 30, 2021).
