Macon Day, Annual Day of Giving, Set for Thursday, Nov. 9

Macon Day, Randolph-Macon College’s annual day of giving, is set for Thursday, Nov. 9, with the goal of raising $575,000 from 1,600 donors in 24 hours.
Started in May 2014, the event has become an annual tradition with a dramatic increase in participation, from 800 participants in 2014 to over 1,700 in 2022. Macon Day accounts for the largest single day of giving to the College every year; throughout its 10-year history, over $4.6 million has been raised.
Macon Day is an opportunity for all members of the RMC community to give in any capacity, but with a special emphasis on the Randolph-Macon College Annual Fund. This unrestricted fund gives the College a critical flexibility to address unforeseen situations, meaning discretionary funds can go where they are needed, when they are needed.
“Macon Day is a perfect example of our community extending the legacy of giving at Randolph-Macon,” said Rick Golembeski ’96, RMC’s Executive Director of Annual Giving. “The Annual Fund is a crucial tool that powers the transformative experiences that happen here every day. That impact is made possible by the generosity of our alumni, parents, students, and friends of the College.”
Alumni support is both critical to the success of Randolph-Macon, and a pillar of the College’s culture. For the ninth year in a row, RMC ranked among the top 25 of all public and private colleges and universities in the country for the percentage of alumni who give.
“Our long-standing national ranking for alumni giving participation – that is the percentage of alumni making a gift of any size – is a powerful symbol of our strength, and is especially meaningful to prospective Yellow Jackets, as it demonstrates gratitude and loyalty as well as foreshadowing an effective alumni network that exists for them once they graduate,” said President Robert R. Lindgren. “Our network of Yellow Jackets helping Yellow Jackets is fantastic, and I have no doubt this year’s Macon Day will be another significant example.”
