Two New Members Elected to Board of Trustees

Randolph-Macon College Board of Trustees Chair Sue Schick ’84 and President Robert R. Lindgren are pleased to announce that two members have joined the College’s Board of Trustees and will be officially sworn in during the board’s annual meeting on April 30.

Michael Roberson ’87

Headshot of Mike RobersonMichael Roberson ’87 graduated from Randolph-Macon with a bachelor’s in psychology.

Today, Roberson is a consultant in the human resources space across a variety of industries for small- to medium-sized organizations. With over 30 years of relationship management and human resource experience, he has worked with a variety of staffing agencies and reached the level of Senior Professional of Human Resources.

Roberson is the former president of the Richmond chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management, and he remains active with both the Richmond Area Diversity Roundtable and the National Association for African Americans in Human Resources.

Roberson previously served on the Society of Alumni Nominating Committee and was a member of the Society of Alumni Board from 2002-2008 and 2017-2020. He currently serves on the Athletic Hall of Fame Nominating Committee and the Yellow Jacket Advisory Board. Roberson and his wife Loralyn ’85 have two sons.

Roberson was an active community member on campus, participating in student government and serving as a senior-class representative. He was also the treasurer of the RMC Barbell Club and was a member of Kappa Sigma. On the field, he was a two-time captain of the football team and played a year of lacrosse.

R. Randolph “Randy” Weis ’88

After graduating from RMC with a bachelor’s in economics and business, Randy Weis ’88 joined Reynolds Metals Company as a management sales trainee. Over the next 12 years, he served in a variety of leadership capacities there and, later, at Alcoa following their purchase of Reynolds.

In 2001, Weis and two associates left their corporate jobs to pursue the start-up of a greenfield aluminum manufacturing company, Service Center Metals, in Prince George, VA. Service Center Metals grew to 250 employees, producing over 100 million pounds of aluminum products annually. With more than 30 years in the industry, Weis retired following the sale of the business in 2019 to spend more time with his family.

The Weis family supports many local charities, including the Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation, the Virginia Home, FOCUS, First Tee of Richmond, the Blue Sky Fund, and UP RVA. Weis is also a recent addition to the board of governors at St. Christopher’s School in Richmond, VA.

While at Randolph-Macon, Weis played lacrosse and was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. His father, Richard Ernest Weis ’66, played football, basketball, and baseball at RMC. Weis and his wife Shannon reside in Richmond and have two sons.
