On November 15, 2016, Randolph-Macon College will host a workshop on solar energy for homes and small businesses at 4 p.m. in the Dollar Tree Room, Brock Commons (304 Henry St.). The workshop, sponsored by RMC’s Environmental Studies program, is free and open to the public. Map and Directions
“We are excited to be a part of a program that can demonstrate how solar energy might provide benefits to home owners, business owners, and the environment,” says Michael Fenster, RMC’s Stephen H. Watts Professor of Science.
Homeowners and small-business owners interested in learning about solar energy are encouraged to attend the workshop to learn about SolarizeRVA, a program of the Richmond Region Energy Alliance (RREA), a nonprofit organization that can provide turnkey service for solar installation.
The workshop will include a PowerPoint presentation given by the SolarizeRVA program manager, the executive director of the RREA, and a technical representative from a solar installer, Integrated Power Sources. Topics covered include Virginia’s solar energy status; the house as a system and efficiency measures; the “dollars and cents” of solar power; and technical information regarding installation and operation.
Light refreshments will be served. For more information, please contact SolarizeRVA at SolarizeRVA@rrea-va.org.
