RMC Appoints New Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications

Randolph-Macon College President Robert R. Lindgren is pleased to announce the appointment of Beth Campbell as Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications.

Campbell will oversee integrated marketing and communications, the College’s website and digital presence, media relations, and the community relations program. She joins the college after leading similar functions at WorldStrides, the nation’s largest student travel and experiential learning company.

Campbell joins the president’s cabinet to collaborate with senior leadership in elevating the college’s profile and stewarding its reputation among audiences of future students, parents, and alumni, and also the broader community.

“Beth impressed the search committee with her breath of experience and innovative, strategic approach to marketing to a range of audiences,” says Lindgren. “She is a talented and energetic leader who can help us continue to raise the visibility of the College with both internal and external constituencies in mind. I am so pleased to welcome Beth to the Randolph-Macon family.”

Campbell earned both her B.S. and M.S. in Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. She went on to work as a broadcast journalist in Michigan and North Carolina, where she told a wide range of stories on education, politics, and national events such as the 2007 banking crisis and the Miracle on the Hudson plane crash. In 2011, she joined WorldStrides where she led marketing for its college and university division, which works with international education professionals and faculty on transformative international programs for students. She built and led the organization’s first enterprise-wide communications team and developed content for students, parents, teachers, and administrators in both K12 and higher education.

“I love telling stories that move people, and I’m a believer in marketing and communications that are built on moments that transform people’s lives,” says Campbell. “The sense of community at RMC was apparent from the first moment I started interacting with the search team. It’s the stuff great marketing is made of, and I’m looking forward to telling those stories.”

Campbell will succeed current Director of Marketing and Communications, Anne Marie Lauranzon, who will retire after 22 years of dedicated service to the institution, having built the department and laid the foundation for future success.
