Randolph-Macon College will host “A Conversation with Artist Willie Cole” on November 10, 2016 at 7 p.m. in Dalton Room, Birdsong Hall (106 E. Patrick St.) This event, which is part of
RMC’s 50 Years of Diversity commemoration, is free and open to the public. Map and Directions

Cole is a noted contemporary American conceptual artist whose highly politicized art work comments on the history of slavery and oppression of African Americans. Cole invests everyday objects with broad ideological significance, thus engaging his audience with the complexities of race in American society. He is known for assembling and transforming ordinary objects into imaginative and powerful works of art. His works has been exhibited widely, more recently as part of Disguise: Masks and Global African Art at the Brooklyn Museum of Art.

This event is sponsored by the Art History department, the Black Studies program, the Sociology & Anthropology department, and the Committee on Assemblies and Special Events (CASE).
