To audition for the LUXE Show Choir, Show Band, or Tech Crew, select either the in-person or online audition process based on which option works best for you. In-person auditioners will use the Performing Arts Audition Form to register for an audition date, while online auditioners will use the same form to submit their completed audition materials. Each audition process—and how to prepare—is detailed below.

What to Wear
- Instrumentalists & Tech: Wear comfortable, appropriate clothing.
- Singers: Wear comfortable, appropriate athletic clothing that allows you to move freely, along with tennis shoes or other supportive athletic shoes.
What to Bring
- A filled water bottle
- Deodorant
- Your instrument and any necessary accessories, if applicable.
In-Person Audition Day Schedule
All in-person auditioners will select one 10-minute individual appointment between 12:00 and 3:00 PM through the Performing Arts Audition Form. Please arrive early enough to be ready at your scheduled time.
After your individual appointment, you are free until 3:00 PM. You may leave and return.
All auditioners must be present for the mandatory group interview from 3:00–3:45 PM. The group interview is a relaxed, conversational opportunity for us to get to know you, see how you interact with others, and help you learn more about LUXE. Both the individual appointment and group interview are required.
The audition process is closed to parents and spectators.
Show Choir Audition
During your 10-minute individual appointment, you will meet privately with the Director of Show Choir and sing “Happy Birthday.” You may also be guided through a few pitch-matching exercises.
After your individual appointment, your schedule is:
- 3:00–3:45 PM | Mandatory Group Interview: All auditioners must attend.
- 3:45–4:00 PM | Short break
- 4:00–5:30 PM | Choreography: Learn and perform a routine with other auditioners
- 5:30–6:00 PM | Break while the audition team reviews the day’s auditions
- 6:00–7:00 PM | Students will be called individually to meet with the Director, receive their audition results, and discuss next steps. You may leave after your individual meeting.
Show Band Audition
During your 10-minute individual appointment, you will meet privately with the Director of Show Choir and perform a musical selection of your choice. Your selection may not exceed three minutes, and shorter selections are encouraged. If possible, choose an excerpt that demonstrates your ability to play both pianissimo and fortissimo.
After your individual appointment, your schedule is:
- 3:00–3:45 PM | Mandatory Group Interview: All auditioners must attend.
- 3:45–4:00 PM | Short break
- 4:00 PM | Students will be called individually to meet with the Director, receive their audition results, and discuss next steps. You may leave after your individual meeting.
Bring your own instrument and any necessary accessories. Instruments will be provided for students auditioning on piano, synthesizer, drum set, and percussion instruments.
Tech Crew Interview
During your 10-minute individual appointment, you will meet privately with the Director of Show Choir for an interview.
After your individual appointment, your schedule is:
- 3:00–3:45 PM | Mandatory Group Interview: All auditioners must attend.
- 3:45–4:00 PM | Short break while the audition team reviews the day’s interviews
- 4:00 PM | Students will be called individually to meet with the Director, receive their interview results, and discuss next steps. You may leave after your individual meeting.
Online Audition Process
Online audition submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. Early submission is strongly encouraged, as space in the program is limited and may fill quickly.
Review the Online Audition Materials before recording your audition. Once all required files are ready, submit them through the Performing Arts Audition Form.
Show Choir Audition
Vocal Videos
- Record “Happy Birthday” a cappella.
- Learn your vocal part of the provided song and record along with the accompaniment track.
Choreography Video
- Learn the routine provided in the Online Audition Materials and record yourself performing it.
Interview Video
Record one video answering the following questions:
- Why would you like to join LUXE?
- What qualities, skills, or experiences would make you a strong addition to the team?
- Describe one of the most valuable lessons you have learned from being part of a team.
Headshot
- Include a clear, recent headshot with your submission.
What to Wear
- Wear comfortable, appropriate athletic clothing that allows you to move freely, along with tennis shoes or other supportive athletic shoes.
