Program Costs and Funding
Programs
Qualified students may participate in an exchange program through the International Student Exchange Programs (ISEP) or through one of RMC’s exchange partner institutions, such as Kansai Gaidai University, Rikkyo University, Yonsei University, Wroxton College, and others.
Students on an ISEP exchange program pay tuition, housing, and meals to RMC and receive tuition, housing, and meals at their host institution at no additional cost. All financial aid, except work study, will still apply during the student’s semester abroad.
Qualified students may also participate in direct non-exchange programs through the University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC), ISEP, or other approved providers. Arrangements in direct programs vary, but in all cases, students pay tuition to RMC, except for a few programs for which students pay housing and/or meals as well as tuition to RMC. Please contact the OIE staff for more details.
RMC will pay up to $10,000 toward the cost of a one-semester direct program. In some cases, this covers the entire cost of the study abroad program. In other cases, it will not and students will be billed a surcharge for the amount over $10,000.
What Costs Are Not Covered?
The following costs associated with semester abroad programs are not covered by tuition, room, and board fees paid to RMC.
- Study Abroad Application Fee: $425 non-refundable fee paid to RMC at the time of submitting your application to OIE. There may also be an additional application fee paid to the provider.
- Passport and Visa: All students must have a valid passport, and student visas are required for many countries. Please note that the cost varies.
- International health insurance: This is required for all students studying abroad. The cost is included in some direct programs.
- Transportation: Airfare to and from your destination and transportation within your host country, don’t forget to count on some travel while you’re there!)
- Housing deposits and other expenses specific to host institutions: Not required by all programs, but if paid, deposits are refunded after you complete the term. Programs may charge fees for trips or lab courses, or other additional amounts. The OIE will assist you in identifying these costs for your program.
- Other expenses: Books and other course-related expenses, and of course living expenses (laundry, toiletries, phone, etc.).
