Study Abroad is for All Students

No matter your major, language abilities, financial situation, or on-campus commitments, study abroad is for you! Every RMC student should look into our study abroad options and see what is possible for them.

Not only will OIE work with our students to help them make studying abroad a reality, we have already compiled a list of external resources to provide additional assistance to Yellow Jacket travelers with questions about travel safety and logistics, learning about their host country, navigating identity abroad, and more.

General Resources

Applying for or Renewing a U.S. Passport

If you’re thinking about studying abroad in the future, apply for or renew your passport now! You may not be able to book an appointment until months in advance, and after that processing times can be up to 18 weeks during busy periods. You will need to have your passport months before you’re ready to go abroad.

Traveler Information

A treasure trove of info for world travelers, including Before You Go, While Abroad, and detailed information about your destination.

Smart Traveler Enrollment Plan (STEP)

STEP is a free service that allows U.S. citizens and nationals traveling abroad to enroll their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. In case of emergency, the information you provide helps the Embassy reach you and communicate with your loved ones. In addition, anyone can sign up to receive alerts.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

The CDC provides current information for travelers to every destination around the globe: how to stay healthy, medications & vaccines, things you might want to take with you, and more.

List of U.S. Embassies and Consulates Worldwide

Embassies help American citizens in many ways. While the Consular officers provide immediate and personal assistance to American citizens every day around the world — replacing lost passports, assisting injured or ill travelers, and assisting with marriages, births, and adoptions, other sections of the embassy provide more specialized assistance.

Diversity Abroad

An organization that provides students from diverse economic, educational, ethnic, and social backgrounds access to resources for study abroad, including their Culture & Diversity Destination Guides.
