In cases involving illness or other extraordinary compelling circumstances, the provost may permit a student to defer the final examination in a course to a time agreed upon by the student, the instructor in the course, and the provost. The symbol I will be recorded if the instructor cannot report a definite grade when final term grades are due. (See Incomplete Grade under Grading System section of Academic Catalog.) Any student who is absent from a final exam or other culminating experience without approval from the provost’s office, will not receive credit for that final exam and will be subject to the grading policies contained on the course syllabus.
All requests must be made using the Exam Change Request form on MyMaconWeb under Other Forms. Students and faculty will be notified by email whether the exam change request has been approved.

JANUARY 2024 FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2024
Final Examination Procedures:
Students are required to take all final examinations during the time specified for their administration. However, a student may, with the permission of the course instructor, take an examination with another section of the same course taught by the same instructor. Any other rescheduling of exams requires the approval of the Provost’s Office and must be requested using the exam change request form available in MyMaconWeb.
Absence from a final examination can only be excused by the Provost’s Office.
Students seeking excused absences should consider the following before requesting an exam change through MyMaconWeb:
1. Please refer to the College Catalog under “Final Examinations.”
2. Consent for altering the examination schedule will be extended only for circumstances beyond a student’s control such as verified illness or other compelling cause.
3. Students with examinations scheduled for three consecutive exam periods including evening exams may seek permission of the Provost’s Office to reschedule one of the exams. Students should specify which exam they wish to reschedule when requesting a change.
4. Reasons such as oversleeping, employment conflicts, family trips or events, transportation problems, and other similar concerns are not compelling causes for changing examination schedules.
5. Leaving phone or electronic mail messages in the Provost’s Office does not constitute obtaining an excuse for a missed examination. All requests must be made via MyMaconWeb and must include proper documentation. Except in the case of sudden illness or emergency, the Provost’s Office must see verification in advance of the examination of the reason for seeking a change.
6. The approval of an instructor is not a sufficient reason for permitting a change in the examination schedule published by the College.
7. All requests must be made using MyMaconWeb; students and faculty will be notified by electronic mail whether or not the exam change request has been approved, or in the event that additional info.
