  • 4 p.m. | Esports DemonstrationBrock Commons Mezzanine
    Head to the Brock Commons to tour the Esports Arena and watch the team showcase their multifaceted talents across an assortment of games.
  • 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. | Family Weekend Welcome ReceptionThe President’s House
    Join Dr. Michael E. Hill and Mr. Peter M. Korns for the Family Weekend Reception in their home.
  • 8 – 10 p.m. | CAB First Friday: Mad Hatter’s Day with SGAFrank E. Brown Fountain Plaza
    Come out to the Fountain Plaza for live music, food trucks, photo booths, a balloon hat artist, and more.

  • 10 a.m. | Panel Discussions – Join a small panel of administrators, faculty, and students to understand how the College works with students to fuel their success, and learn practical ways to plug into that work.
    • From Arrival to Achievement: The RMC EDGE Student Success Journey
      Discover how Randolph-Macon supports students from their first days on campus through graduation. Learn about the RMC EDGE framework and the coordinated network of academic, personal, and engagement resources designed to help every student thrive. Gain practical insights into how families can support and encourage their students’ success along their academic journey

    • Beyond Graduation: Preparing Yellow Jackets for Life and Work
      Explore how RMC helps students translate their college experience into meaningful careers and purposeful lives. This session highlights career development, experiential learning, networking, and graduate school preparation opportunities, and will offer families strategies for engaging with and supporting their student’s career and post-graduation planning.
  • 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. | Tailgate Luncheon – Estes Dining Hall
    Enjoy tailgate fare and a party vibe inside our dining hall, in advance of the big game.

Things to Do in Ashland

Our friends at the Town of Ashland are excited to welcome you to the Center of the Universe to explore your students’ home away from home. Try out their Yellow Jacket’s Guide to Ashland and/or their Yellow Jacket’s Family Ashland Itinerary, a walkable itinerary that will lead you to local restaurants, Ashland’s Saturday Farmers Market, public art, and a few must-see Ashland spots.

FAQs about Family Weekend

Arrival/Departure

Parents arrive as their work obligations and other commitments permit. The more popular events are generally scheduled for late-afternoon on Friday into Saturday. No check-in is required!

Accommodations

The Town of Ashland provides a list of local Accommodations. When making reservations, please be sure to ask for the Randolph-Macon College rate.

Parking

Guest parking passes are not required for Family Weekend. Parents may park in all student and faculty/staff lots. 

Siblings and Guests

Guests are welcome, and we encourage you to bring siblings. (Book a campus tour while you are here!)

Pets

Pets are allowed in certain places on campus and must be leashed at all times. However, pets are not allowed in the tailgate area or stadium during the football game on Saturday. We also ask that you refrain from taking them inside buildings, as others may be allergic.  Clean-up is the sole responsibility of the pet’s owner.

Dress

We encourage casual, comfortable dress for the weekend.
