  • 4 p.m. Demonstrations and Facility Tours – Engage with groups that your student is part of on campus.
  • 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. – Family Weekend Welcome ReceptionJoin Dr. Michael E. Hill and Mr. Peter M. Korns for the Family Weekend Reception in their home.

saturdaY

  • 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Pre-Game Tailgate
  • 1 p.m. – RMC Football vs. Washington and Lee University – Day Field
    Note: Fall Tailgating Information
  • Times TBD – Other Athletic contests throughout the day and evening

sunday

  • 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. – Sunday Brunch– Estes Dining Hall – Enjoy fresh, made-from-scratch food and flavors that are handcrafted and personally designed by our chefs with your needs in mind. Our recipes come to life every day in our kitchens using the best ingredients, prepared in the freshest ways possible.
  • 10:30 a.m. – Family Weekend Worship Service – Duncan Memorial United Methodist, 201 Henry Street, Ashland, Va. 23005

Things to Do in Ashland

Our friends at the Town of Ashland are excited to welcome you to the Center of the Universe. Consider some of the following options:

Saturday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Ashland Farmer’s Market

9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Ashland-Hanover Visitors Center, 112 N Railroad Avenue (804) 752-6766

Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Sunday, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., – Ashland Museum, 105 Hanover Avenue (804) 368-7314, Ashland Museum offers walking tours of Downtown Ashland and the historic district free of charge. Contact the museum ahead of your visit to arrange a tour guide. 

Railfans of all ages flock to Downtown Ashland to watch more than 60 freight and passenger trains per day pass through the center of our main street. 

Ashland Haunted History Tours – All tours begin at 108 Robinson Street in downtown Ashland. Tickets required.

Ashland Theatre – Featuring first run and classic films and live music, the historic Ashland Theatre features unique art deco details paired with state-of-the-art technology.

FAQs about Family Weekend

Arrival/Departure

Parents arrive as their work obligations and other commitments permit. The more popular events are generally scheduled for late-afternoon on Friday into Saturday. No check-in is required!

Accommodations

The Town of Ashland provides a list of local Accommodations. When making reservations, please be sure to ask for the Randolph-Macon College rate.

Parking

Guest parking passes are not required for Family Weekend. Parents may park in all student and faculty/staff lots. 

Siblings and Guests

Guests are welcome, and we encourage you to bring siblings. (Book a campus tour while you are here!)

Pets

Pets are allowed in certain places on campus and must be leashed at all times. However, pets are not allowed in the tailgate area or stadium during the football game on Saturday. We also ask that you refrain from taking them inside buildings, as others may be allergic.  Clean-up is the sole responsibility of the pet’s owner.

Dress

We encourage casual, comfortable dress for the weekend.
