White Named Interim VP for Enrollment

White’s appointment comes as David Lesesne steps down from his role as Vice President for Enrollment and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid after a successful 13-year tenure at the College.
A true supporter and advocate for Randolph-Macon, White has served as a member of the Board of Trustees for 20 years across two iterations. He has also served as a member of the Board’s Enrollment Committee for each of those 20 years, including 10 years as its chair.
“I love Randolph-Macon, and I’ve had a long association with enrollment. I’ve been working with the enrollment department for 30 years as a member of the Board of Associates and then as a member of the Board of Trustees,” White said. “I view this as an opportunity to help with the transition; it’s always a critical time in the College’s history. We can’t afford to drop the ball, so I want to make sure that things run smoothly until we can find David’s successor.”
“In considering candidates for the interim role, Doug’s vast knowledge of RMC and our enrollment program plus his extensive, strategic leadership background affirmed to me that he is the right person to lead our program in this critical interim period,” Lindgren said.
White will maintain RMC’s enrollment momentum by leading the Admissions and Financial Aid staff to continue to attract academically strong, character-driven students. He will resign from the Board of Trustees before assuming his interim duties. The College will conduct a national search for Lesesne’s long-term successor.
White earned his B.S. in physics from RMC, a B.M.E. and M.S. in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He began his professional life with McKinsey & Company, a pre-eminent strategic management consulting firm. He also has served as a senior executive with Capital One and worked as chief executive officer and chief operations officer at several small and mid-sized companies in diverse fields.
White and his wife, Polly, are owners of Gather, a firm that provides private offices, conference rooms, and workspace in Richmond and Hampton Roads. The Whites have three children, two of whom – Bobby ’07 and Emily ’08 – are also RMC alumni, as are his two siblings and both a niece and nephew of Polly.
