Art Exhibition: “Container Garden”
The Flippo Gallery at Randolph-Macon College is proud to present “Container Garden,” an exhibition of paintings by Elise Schweitzer, in the Flippo Gallery, Pace-Armistead Hall (211 N. Center St.). Map and Directions
In this exhibition of oil paintings, two distinct painting strategies hang together. Illusionistic paintings of lemon trees call back to Roman frescos of gardens, while small abstract paintings create illusions of boxes of air, open windows, and transparent sunlight. Schweitzer is an associate professor of painting at Hollins University, and has been an artist in residence at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and the International Center for the Arts in Montecastello in Italy.
The exhibition will run through October 11, 2019. The Flippo Gallery is open Monday – Friday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. or by appointment. For more information, email flippogallery@rmc.edu.
