President Robert R. Lindgren is pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Young as RMC’s new vice president for administration and finance. Young will succeed Paul Davies, who is retiring after 13 years at RMC, in the position. He is expected to begin his new responsibilities on May 14.

“Rob Young’s commitment to institutions like ours is evident throughout his career journey. I believe we have found a leader who arrives ready for this important role during an important moment in higher education,” said President Lindgren. “He is poised to offer both fresh thinking and significant experience, and I am very pleased that RMC’s legacy of strong financial stewardship and strategic allocation of resources will remain in good hands.”

Young comes to Randolph-Macon after nearly 6 years in the same role at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, where he has carefully managed resources, championed revenue solutions, and partnered across campus to strengthen the departments under his leadership. Previously, he spent a decade as CFO and a key member of leadership at his alma mater, Hendrix College in Arkansas. In that role, he helped develop and implement a transformational strategic plan that included significant changes in the college’s approach to the marketplace, a comprehensive facilities and real estate master plan, and a unique capital building project that blended the campus and the community. Hendrix experienced significant enrollment growth during that period as well.

Young has also served in several leadership roles in the private sector. These include time spent as a chief financial officer at a privately held technology company, a financial executive and operational consultant, and as an audit senior accountant and staff accountant at Deloitte & Touche, LLP – all in Little Rock, Arkansas.

“I am excited and humbled to join the Randolph-Macon community and work closely with President Lindgren and others to continue advancing the mission to develop the mind and character of our students,” Young said. “RMC is an institution with a strong reputation and history, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with remarkable colleagues, students, and alumni.”

Young earned his B.A. in economics and business with an emphasis in accounting at Hendrix College where he graduated magna cum laude with distinction. He is a certified public accountant in the state of Arkansas.
