RMC Students Compete in Ethics Bowl

Four students from Randolph-Macon competed in the 24th annual statewide collegiate Ethics Bowl, sponsored by the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges (VFIC) and presented by TowneBank.
This year’s team, made up of Endellion Boone ’27, Naomi Nambiar ’24, Olivia Redman ’24, and Yaniv Regev ’25, was coached by adjunct faculty member Dr. Kaitlyn Haynal of the Department of Communication Studies. On the campus of Hollins University in Roanoke, Va., they debated a wide range of topics related to this year’s Ethics Bowl theme, “Ethics and the Environment,” including LEED certified community norms, mandatory reporting to the EPA, construction of Big Data centers, and communication transparency expectations for toxic waste shipments via rail.
Our team notched two losses and two wins in competition for an even record and reported having a great time learning about ethics and the environment, and fun working together as a team.
“It was my pleasure working with this bright and curious group of individuals and I am glad I had the opportunity to watch them compete,” said Dr. Haynal.
The team from Randolph-Macon College took home the Batten Trophy at the last Ethics Bowl in 2023, held at Virginia Wesleyan University.
About the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges
