Randolph-Macon College Welcomes New Trustee
Randolph-Macon College President Robert R. Lindgren is pleased to announce that D. Calloway “Cal” Whitehead III ’96 will be sworn in at the October 28, 2017 Board of Trustees meeting and serve in this capacity during his two-year role as chair of the Board of Associates.

Cal Whitehead III ’96
Whitehead, managing partner at Commonwealth Strategy Group LLC, represents businesses, professional associations, and other organizations in matters before the Virginia General Assembly and executive agencies. In addition to lobbying services, he also advises and manages client advocacy programs regarding policy development, political activities, and grassroots mobilization. Whitehead has been lobbying for more than two decades and was previously the in-house lobbyist for the Virginia Association of REALTORS® and the Medical Society of Virginia.
A member of the RMC Board of Associates since 2007, Whitehead was recently named chair of the BOA. Whitehead, who supports his alma mater in numerous ways, has served as a mentor to several RMC students, including Tristan Macdonald ’12, who interned under his guidance at the General Assembly.
In addition, Whitehead is active in several professional and community organizations, including St. Bridget Catholic Church, Maymont Foundation, the Virginia Public Access Project, the Diocese of Richmond Advisory School Board, and Chamber RVA, where he serves as Government Affairs chair.
Whitehead earned a B.A. degree in political science with a minor in history from Randolph-Macon College in 1996. He lives in Richmond with his wife, Katherine Gold Whitehead ’97, and their two children.
