RMC Physician Assistant Program Earns Provisional Accreditation
Randolph-Macon College’s Masters in Physician Assistant Studies program is now provisionally accredited, clearing another significant milestone in its journey to educate PAs as part of the College’s first master’s program.
Per the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant:
The ARC-PA has granted Accreditation-Provisional status to the Randolph-Macon College Physician Assistant Studies Program sponsored by Randolph-Macon College.
Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding Accreditation-Provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students.
Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status. It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class.
The program’s accreditation history can be viewed on the ARC-PA website.
The awarding of provisional accreditation acknowledges that the PA program has the plans and resources that, if fully implemented as proposed, can lead to compliance with the Standards. A subsequent review of the program will occur after the first cohort of students, who enter in January 2023, are being educated.
“This formally opens the door for us to do the work we each strive to do,” said Chair and PA Program Director Erich Grant. “We are currently admitting students, building out curriculum, hiring faculty, and expanding the footprint of RMC into new areas of community impact.”
The PA program is accepting applications on a rolling basis through September 1, 2022.
