RMC Celebrates Black History Month
Randolph-Macon College is offering a variety of programs to celebrate Black History Month.
These events are managed by the Office of Diversity & Multicultural Affairs and are co-sponsored by the Diversity Council, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Men With a Purpose, Black Cultural Society, and Subject Never Object.
With the exception of the February 23 event, all events are free and open to the public.
The Office of Diversity & Multicultural Affairs supports the college’s commitment to celebrating difference by providing opportunities and services that assist students in learning about and actively participating in social justice efforts. With a focus on creating an inclusive and affirming community, the Office of Diversity & Multicultural Affairs seeks to build a community of respect and appreciation for difference through social justice education, events, programming, resources, and support services.
Alicia Elms, coordinator of Diversity & Multicultural Affairs, says, “These events are a great way for the RMC community to engage in programs that highlight vast experiences of Black History through celebrating achievements while navigating the critical complexities of reality, and joyous expression of culture. The Office of Diversity & Multicultural Affairs offers numerous initiatives and programs throughout the year, and we are thrilled to celebrate Black History Month with a wide variety of events.”
