RMC Announces New Show Choir Program
Randolph-Macon College President Robert R. Lindgren is pleased to announce that the college is launching a Show Choir program, which will begin in fall 2018, with their first class of students starting fall of 2019. Show Choir uses vocals, choreography, staging, costuming and production to synthesize an artistic experience.
“We are delighted to offer this wonderful new program,” says Lindgren. “The Show Choir will provide students with a creative and exciting opportunity to showcase their talents. This program is yet another way that students can enrich their liberal arts education and Randolph-Macon College experience. Show Choir is a unique addition to the dozens of clubs, organizations, and athletics teams RMC offers. We look forward to having students help us build a dynamic Show Choir program.”
Powerhouse Performances + Scholarship Opportunities
Students in the program will perform songs from all different genres, from gospel to Broadway.
“Collegiate Show Choir, a non-competitive program, takes the style and verve of the performing arts and combines them into powerhouse performances,” says Grant Azdell, vice president for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. “Participants will tour locally and nationally, performing at a professional level as they hone their artistic and leadership skills.” Students in the program will also be eligible for special scholarships.
Leadership: The Heart of RMC
Student leadership is at the heart of what Randolph-Macon does, says Azdell.
“Show Choir members will learn to be effective leaders and role models in today’s society while they continue to pursue their passion for performance, regardless of their declared major,” he says. “They’ll grow as students, leaders, role models, serve as extraordinary members of the community, and they will help shape the future of tomorrow. This program is a terrific addition to the RMC experience.”
