RMC Announces New Board of Trustees Members
Randolph-Macon College President Robert R. Lindgren and Board of Trustees Chair Sue Schick ’84 are pleased to announce that four members have been elected to the college’s Board of Trustees.
Everett B. Birdsong ’84, Kelly Keffler Domson ’89, M.D., Robert B. Lambeth Jr. ’71, and Adam T. Vasquez ’99 will begin their terms on February 15, 2020.
“We are delighted that these four distinguished alumni will join our Board and grateful that they are willing to dedicate their wisdom, leadership and vision to Randolph-Macon College,” says Lindgren.
Everett B. Birdsong ’84
Vice President of MIS, Birdsong Peanuts Corporation
Everett B. Birdsong graduated from Randolph-Macon College in 1984 with a B.A. in business/economics. While at Randolph-Macon, Birdsong was president of his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta. After graduating from RMC, he joined the family business as an accountant for Birdsong Peanuts Corporation and then served as a data processing manager. He is currently Vice President of Management Information Systems (MIS) for the company.
Birdsong is an active leader in civic and community activities. He was past president of the Suffolk Ruritan Club, the Suffolk Rotary Club, the Suffolk Salvation Army Board and the Suffolk Youth Athletic Association. He is a long-standing Advisory Board member of the Suffolk Family YMCA and a corporate member of the South Hampton Roads YMCA Board. Birdsong has also served in several lay leadership positions at Main Street United Methodist Church for over 25 years.
An active alumnus, he served on the Society of Alumni from 1994-1999; served as Class Agent for several years; and was a member of the 1984 Reunion Committee. His family’s legacy at RMC runs deep: his grandfather, father, brother, uncles and many cousins are also alumni of the college.
Kelly Keffler Domson ’89, M.D.
Physician/Pathologist, Fauquier Hospital
Kelly Keffler Domson graduated from Randolph-Macon College with a B.S. in biology in 1989 and earned her M.D. in 1993 from The Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University. She stayed in Richmond at MCV/VCU for a five-year combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency.
Domson is a general Pathologist at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton, Virginia, and Medical Director for multiple toxicology laboratories around the state of Maryland. She has been a general Pathologist in Northern Virginia for over 20 years. For 15 years, she was a partner and CFO in Alexandria Pathology Associates, performing general pathology services at Inova Mount Vernon and Alexandria Hospitals. For the past six years, she has been with Pathfinder Diagnostics at Fauquier Hospital, where she evaluates body fluids, biopsies and surgical excisions for diagnostic and prognostic factors, and helps manage the hematology, chemistry and blood bank sections within the laboratory.
Domson’s sister, Jennifer Keffler Love ’92, and Jennifer’s husband, P.D. Love ’91, are graduates of Randolph-Macon. Domson’s son, Marcus Domson ’22, is a sophomore at RMC.
Robert B. Lambeth Jr. ’71
President, Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia (CICV)
Robert B. Lambeth Jr. earned his B.A. in political science from Randolph-Macon College, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, Omicron Delta Kappa, and served as editor of the Yellow Jacket newspaper. He studied at Wroxton College in Banbury, England and earned his law degree from the University of Richmond. Lambeth has also done graduate work in government and foreign affairs at the University of Virginia.
Lambeth has served as president of the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia since 1984. The CICV membership includes 27 Virginia independent colleges and universities and manages collaborative projects beneficial to its member colleges. Projects include coordination of governmental relations for member institutions and public support for Virginia’s Tuition Assistance Grant (TAG) program, which provides over $71 million per year to students attending Virginia’s independent colleges.
Lambeth, who has a personal interest in historic preservation and the preservation of open space land, is the former chairman of the Virginia Outdoors Foundation, the state agency that holds open space easements in Virginia. He was a founding board member of Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest and past president of the Preservation Alliance of Virginia. He is also an emeritus member of the Board of Advisors to the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Adam T. Vasquez ’99
Founder and CEO, Merit
Adam T. Vasquez graduated from Randolph-Macon College in 1999 with a B.A. in studio art. At RMC, he was a standout on the varsity lacrosse team. He earned his M.S. and M.B.A from University of Maryland Global Campus.
Vasquez is founder and CEO of Merit, the global leader in market invention. Vasquez is known for his ability to invent new markets, resulting in more than $100 billion dollars of market value creation. His efforts have garnered many industry accolades and created market leadership for a number of small, medium and large companies. Some notable clients include, New Holland Agriculture, Peeps, Altria, TE Connectivity, and AMTRAK.
A best-selling author, Vasquez is a sought-after public speaker on various business, leadership and motivational topics.
