Presidential Search Team Appointed

Sue Schick, Chair of the Randolph-Macon Board of Trustees, is pleased to share the appointment of 15 members of the Presidential Search Team, a group that will lead our national search for Randolph-Macon’s next president. This Presidential Search Committee will make a recommendation to the full Board of Trustees.

Dave Meleski ’81 will lead the search team as chair and Yvonne Brandon ’76 as vice-chair.

Meleski and Brandon are both alumni and long-time trustees with a rich history of engagement in board activity and other aspects of college life. Meleski is himself a CEO, leading the Berkshire Hathaway-backed Richline Group, a retail company with a range of business lines. In that capacity, he has also been a dedicated mentor to dozens of RMC interns. He is a dedicated fan and generous benefactor of our Yellow Jacket Athletics and former chair of its Board of Trustees committee. Brandon served as the Superintendent of Richmond Public Schools and has previously participated in national executive searches in the education space. Her good works on campus include her time as chair of the Committee on Trustees and co-chair of the Racial Equity and Opportunity Commission.

Meleski and Brandon will lead a 15-member committee of trustees, a trustee emeritus, and members representing faculty, staff, students, and alumni – all of whom were elected or nominated by their representative associations, and unanimously endorsed by the Board of Trustees.

“I thank them wholeheartedly for their willingness to serve in this critical role,” said Schick.

“This representative group ensures we have a broad lens on the facets of an RMC experience, from across the decades, the disciplines, and the RMC landscape,” noted Meleski. “Most importantly, they all share a deep love for this institution and a commitment to its future success.”

The trustee members of the committee have already begun finalizing the work of selecting a professional search firm to lead this process. The next steps are to align around a profile of what the College needs in a leader for this exciting new chapter.

“There is much to be done in the months ahead and we remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring an inclusive, transparent, and efficient process – of which we’ll keep you continuously apprised!” Schick said.
