Randolph-Macon’s athletic fields will be abuzz this weekend with competition, as well as celebrations of recent and future updates to our campus. Read on to stay up-to-date with all that’s happening this Saturday, September 11!

Nunnally Field Dedication

Nunnally Field Aerial shotA dedication ceremony will be held Saturday at approximately 10:15 a.m. for the refreshed Nunnally Field. Nunnally Field underwent extensive renovations in 2020 that included the installation of a state-of-the-art turf pitch bordered by new bleachers and a dedicated double-sided press box. The field will continue to serve Randolph-Macon’s field hockey and women’s lacrosse teams as it has since its original dedication in 1999.

Duke Hall Groundbreaking

A view of the proposed Duke Hall from Day FieldRandolph-Macon College will celebrate the groundbreaking of Duke Hall, a building project adjacent to Day Field that will meet several key needs for RMC’s athletic community and house RMC’s new Physician Assistant (PA) graduate program.

To commemorate the groundbreaking of Duke Hall, a brief ceremony will be held during halftime of the Randolph-Macon football game against Catholic University, in which President Robert Lindgren, Athletic Director Jeff Burns, PA Program Director Professor Erich Grant, alongside Board of Trustee leaders, will celebrate the beginning of construction and thank the generous donors who made the building project possible.

A Great Day for Sports Fans

Buzz cheers on the football team with the crowd behind himSaturday will be a great day for Yellow Jacket sports fanatics! In action in Ashland:

  • RMC’s Field Hockey squad will take on Transylvania University at 11:00 a.m. on Nunnally Field.
  • We’ll have our first home game of the football season against the Catholic University Cardinals at 1:00 p.m.

In action out of town:

  • Women’s soccer will face off against McDaniel College at 1:00 p.m. in Westminster, Maryland.
  • Men’s soccer will play Carini University at 4:00 p.m. in Radnor Township, Pennsylvania.
  • Women’s volleyball will travel to play two matches in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania: the first against Franklin & Marshall at 1:30 p.m., and another against Arcadia at 4:00 p.m.
