Monks’ Walk for Peace at RMC (Tentative)
February 3 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
The Buddhist monks walking from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington, D.C. will bring their world-famous, 2,300-mile walk through Ashland, with a rest stop on Randolph-Macon’s campus. Their tentative plans are to arrive in the evening, and then welcome those interested to meet them.
The public is invited to witness their walk (estimated arrival approximately 4:30-5:30 p.m.), and then to greet them inside the Brock Recreation Center (at approximately 6 p.m.) for a Peace Sharing Talk.
The group has drawn thousands of supporters and millions of social media followers during its journey through the Southeast for its simple yet powerful message of compassion, unity, nonviolence, and mindfulness. The monks are accompanied by volunteers and their beloved rescue dog Aloka.
