Leadership Colloquium: Ambassador Kent Logsdon (Ret.)
April 21 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Kent D. Logsdon rose through the ranks to become a senior U.S. Diplomat and Ambassador during a 35-year career in public service that spanned ten presidential administrations. He has extensive experience leading teams, managing people and deploying resources both overseas and at home.
Randolph-Macon is proud to welcome Ambassador Logsdon to campus and offer students a chance to meet him in person for one day only. During the discussion, he will answer questions and share his hard-earned insights into the meaning of leadership, careers in diplomacy, and the dynamics of global politics.
Context: Ambassadors assigned overseas serve as the Chief of Mission (COM) at post and are the highest-ranking U.S. diplomat in a foreign country, acting as the President’s personal representative. They lead the U.S. Embassy and are responsible for directing all U.S. government personnel in that country—excluding military forces under a combatant commander.
