Thinking about a career in nursing? With an emphasis on critical thinking and effective communication, a liberal arts education provides a strong foundation for any career. And R-MC supports students interested in careers in healthcare with a rigorous academic program, our Pre-Health Society, a dedicated Medical Careers Coordinator in The Edge Career Center, and a growing number of collaborative agreements with medical and health sciences schools in the region. By pursuing a liberal arts education, students can be involved in college athletics, a multitude of clubs and organizations, and become well-rounded students that are adept in functioning in the fast-paced team environment that a career in healthcare entails.

A typical pathway is an accelerated program. A BSN (Bachelor of Science Nursing) can lead to a very exciting career as a registered nurse, and it provides a path for further education to potentially become a nurse practitioner (NP) or to pursue other graduate level nursing education. Randolph-Macon College offers a unique pathway to this rewarding and challenging field of healthcare through our Guaranteed Admission Agreements with the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Nursing and the George Washington University (GWU) School of Nursing.

What are the advantages of these pathways?

Guaranteed admission: The agreements offer outstanding R-MC students a direct and smooth transition to premier nursing programs.

Major options: Love literature? Fascinated by history? Curious about psychology? Students choosing to take advantage of the Guaranteed Admission Agreement with VCU or GW need to complete a prerequisite selection of core courses (including the honors program for VCU). However, you can fulfill these requirements while also pursuing the major of your choice.

A well-rounded college experience: From sports to the arts, study abroad to volunteering at home, R-MC offers a setting where you can explore all your interests, both inside the classroom and in the world at large.
