ADJUNCT FACULTY FOR BSN CLINICAL TEACHING

Randolph-Macon College invites applications for adjunct faculty in the Department of Nursing to teach clinical during the 2026-27 academic year. For fall 2026 (September-December), we are hiring clinical adjunct faculty to provide clinical teaching in med/surg adult health. For spring 2027 (February-May), we are hiring clinical adjunct faculty to provide clinical teaching in med/surg adult health, fundamentals, and women’s health. All clinical experiences are in person in the metro Richmond and Fredericksburg region.

Adjunct faculty are an important part of our nurse faculty team in meeting the mission of our department, ‘to provide a transformative education grounded in the liberal arts to develop resilient nurse leaders prepared to practice innovatively within a dynamic healthcare environment.’ We are committed to orient, train, and support our adjunct faculty in his/her development as an adjunct faculty for clinical teaching. 

The minimum adjunct faculty qualifications are: Unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or multistate licensure, Virginia eligible; Minimal education preparation is a master’s degree in nursing; and Clinical expertise in a specific clinical nursing area (medical/surgical, adult health, women’s health). Clinical teaching experience preferred.  

The adjunct faculty in the Department of Nursing are required to:  

  • Supervise, evaluate and mentor students in the laboratory, simulation, and/or clinical settings to promote student success; 
  • Support the departmental mission centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality clinical instruction; 
  • Communicate effectively with course coordinators, faculty, assistant director, and director to achieve course and clinical outcomes; and  
  • Demonstrate the core values of caring, civility, inclusivity, excellence, and integrity.

Full-Time Clinical Track or Tenure-Track BSN Faculty

Randolph-Macon College invites applications for full-time clinical track or tenure-track positions of Nursing Faculty in the Department of Nursing to begin August 2026. All teaching is in-person.

Randolph-Macon College, founded in 1830, is a selective, primarily residential liberal arts college with an enrollment of 1800 students located in the northern suburbs of Richmond, Virginia. It is 90 miles south of Washington, DC and 15 miles north of Richmond. Randolph-Macon College faculty teach, advise, conduct research and engage in scholarship, and serve the college and department. Faculty teaching full-time in the nursing department have the responsibilities of their RMC faculty appointment and rank in regard to teaching, scholarship, and service. In addition, nursing faculty are responsible for implementing and evaluating the BSN curriculum under the leadership of the Chair. Nursing faculty are diverse, talented and innovative nursing professionals who will teach in their area(s) of expertise. Faculty are expected to have a minimum of 3 years of clinical expertise in their specified area(s) of clinical expertise as evidenced by their educational, experiential, and/or clinical practice experience. Teaching expectations include didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical teaching as appropriate to educational/clinical expertise. Areas of expertise include: Adult/Family Health and Community/Population Health.

Faculty in the Department of Nursing require at minimum:  

  • MSN or DNP for clinical track; Doctorate in nursing (PhD or DNP) for tenure track 
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching
  • Evidence of a commitment to undergraduate teaching and student engagement 
  • Unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or multistate licensure, Virginia eligible
  • Three years of clinical expertise in area of nursing practice expertise as evidenced by their educational, experiential, and/or clinical practice experience; and
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to pedagogical methods that enable students across racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups to reach their maximum potential.
