Your Learning Journey Beyond Study Abroad

One of the goals of international education is to improve intercultural learning skills, also called intercultural competency, which can be defined as effective and appropriate communication and behavior in an intercultural situation.

Study abroad is an incredible way to build intercultural learning skills but it is not the only way. With the proper guidance and support, students who remain at their home campus can make just as many intercultural learning gains as their peers who go abroad. That’s why OIE has compiled a list of activities and resources to assist you in continuing your intercultural learning journey after returning home. Intercultural learning is a life-long process and is never really “complete”.

While these resources can help you get started, we encourage you to seek out additional ways to continue your intercultural learning in the future.
