The community of Macon teachers extends into school districts across Virginia, and far beyond. And there are numerous ways to connect with our department, continuing your development as an educator and contributing to the development of the future educators who are studying with us now.

Supporting Students

Interested in serving as a College Supervisor?

College Supervisors serve the institution from February – May each year and act as a liaison between our student teachers and host teachers in the field. They provide invaluable support and mentorship to our student teachers, observing them in the classroom and providing feedback throughout the semesters. College Supervisors must have teaching experience to serve in this role. If interested, please contact RMCEducation@rmc.edu

Interested in supporting our Teacher Preparation Program in an advisory capacity?

We are in the process of creating an Advisory Board consisting of current teachers, administrators, and experts in higher education to support our programs. The board would meet once per year to review departmental data, share trends in the field, and provide suggestions for improvement to the department. If you’d like more information, please contact RMCEducation@rmc.edu

Upcoming Professional Development

Macon Mentors

Learning to mentor a pre-service teacher is a rewarding skill that can help you further your career in education. Our program helps create teacher-leaders in Virginia’s schools, and Macon Mentors is approved for Professional Development credit and FREE.

As mentors, we improve our own skills as we work with mentees. By working with other mentors, we share experiences and problem solve ways to improve our own mentoring skills
