The Education Department charges program fees to students who are enrolled in our programs.  These fees are billed annually and cover the following costs related to fieldwork and licensure:

  • An annual criminal background check (which is required for fieldwork and student teaching)
  • An annual SVEA (Student Virginia Education Association) membership, which provides liability insurance to students participating in fieldwork.
  • All required licensure examinations administered by PRAXIS and VDOE (licensure students only).
  • The cost of a Virginia teaching license

Costs differ by program due to the costs of the licensure tests for each program.  A summary of program fees by year is below:

*In addition to these costs, students majoring in EDST are required to pay the College’s Basset Internship fee.

For students who do not pass their licensure-related exams, the Education Program Fees cover one re-test, if necessary.  Additional re-tests are the responsibility of the student.
