Randolph-Macon College adheres to both the federal Stop Campus Hazing Act and the Code of Virginia pursuant to “Adam’s Law.” These complementary pieces of legislation at both the federal and state levels underscore a commitment to transparency, prevention, and student safety. The College provides hazing prevention and alcohol overdose education to campus stakeholders, including students, advisors, faculty, and staff.

Furthermore, the College maintains and publicly reports actual findings of violations of the College’s Student Conduct Code or of federal or state laws pertaining to hazing that are reported to campus authorities or local law enforcement. Findings of hazing violations after July 1, 2022, may be found on this site for a period of 10 years in accordance with Adam’s Law.
Reporting Hazing
Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other individuals have a responsibility to report hazing to the College. Reports may be made via the College Incident Reporting Form which may be found on the Office of Student Conduct website.
Individuals may also notify various campus offices of concerning behavior.

Hazing Prevention Education and Resources
The College seeks to educate, advise, and empower members of the Randolph-Macon College community to prevent hazing. The Student Engagement Center provides resources and educational programming to student organizations, campus offices, and other campus stakeholders around hazing behaviors. Student organizations and campus offices interested in education and training around hazing prevention or would like more information about prevention efforts should contact the Student Engagement Center.
The Stop Campus Hazing Act requires that hazing statistics be included in the Annual Security Report (ASR) or “Clery Report.” Moreover, the ASR also includes a statement of the College’s Hazing Policy and hazing prevention strategies and programs. As passed in the 2022 Session of the Virginia General Assembly, “Adam’s Law” specifies requirements for select student organizations. The text of the law can be found on the Virginia Legislative Information System (VALIS) online. Student organizations and their advisors should take care to carefully read and adhere to the text of the law. Organizations and/or advisors with questions with the law and its requirements are encouraged to contact the Student Engagement Center or Dean of Students Office.
