My To Do List

  • Please complete these actions by June 23 to ensure the timely crediting of your financial aid to your account. 
  • All actions/documents must be completed before any scholarships are credited to your business office account.
  • Please fax or mail requested documents. We do not recommend emailing of sensitive personal data.

To-Do List Students & Parents

  • Review your Financial Aid Award Letter and the College Fee Information Sheet 2017-2018 (PDF) to estimate your balance due. The Business Office will be sending out individual bills with the exact amount due in a few weeks. It is expected that parents and students will resolve account balances prior to enrolling.

  • Refer to our Private Loan webpage for an additional option to the federal direct loan program. Please note the Federal Perkins Student Loans are no longer available. You may want to consider replacing the Perkins Loan with a private student loan.

  • Read Financial Aid Consumer Information Booklet 2017-2018 which contains details regarding your financial aid, including academic requirements for renewal of financial aid.

To-Do List for Students

  • Complete the Financial Aid CHANGE FORM 2017-2018 (PDF) if you wish to cancel or reduce any of the loans offered. Without this form, we will assume you want all loans offered to you. 

  • To apply for a Federal Direct Student Loan you must:

  •            New Borrower:

    • Complete the Entrance Counseling and Federal Direct Master Promissory Note on-line at: You will need your FSA ID to sign in.

               Returning Borrower:

    • You have already signed your Master Promissory Note, so nothing more is required to accept the loan(s) indicated on your award letter. If you do not want the loan you must give us a CHANGE FORM 2017-2018 (PDF) to either cancel or reduce the loan in your financial aid package. 

    • If you previously received a Virginia TAG Grant you do not need to re-submit another application. It is a one-time-only application. You will receive the grant each year. If you are a Va. resident and you did not receive the grant last year, you may submit the VA TAG Grant Application 2017- 2018 (PDF) application to the Financial Aid Office by the college deadline of June 26. Applications received after the state deadline of July 31 are not guaranteed funding.

    • The Job List for 2017-2018 will be available on the R-MC website beginning July 1. Students may contact the position supervisor by email to inquire about the position beginning July 1.

To-Do List for Parents

To apply for a Federal Direct Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS), the parent must:

  • Log on to using parent information and parent FSA ID. 

    Complete the Plus Request (we recommend you check "Maximum Amount Allowed' for loan amount) and then you must also Complete the Plus Master Promissory Note (MPN) by entering your parent FSA ID number again.
  • Loan Applications received after Sept.1 will not be processed until after Oct.1.
  • Parents who are denied the Federal PLUS, your student is eligible to receive an additional federal unsubsidized Direct Student Loan in an amount up to $4,000 per year for freshmen and sophomores and up to $5,000 per year for juniors and seniors. If your PLUS is denied we will send our Federal PLUS Action Denial form for authorization to process the additional loan.
