Psychology Alumni

What can you do with a major in Psychology? Just look at the accomplishments of some of our alumni.

Joel Bolton (R-MC '09) currently serves as the operations manager for Global Security Associates, a private security firm at Washington’s Dulles International Airport.

Dr. Sara Anderson (previously Sara Buckelew R-MC '96) is currently a pediatrician and was deployed to Iraq in September 2005. Her letters indicate that she is doing well — although looking forward to returning to her husband and home in Hawaii.

Matthew Casey (R-MC '96), is a Licensed Certified Social Worker, Certified in the state of Maryland and is currently the Program Supervisor for Treatment Foster Care for Pressley Ridge.

Heather Lynn Calvert (R-MC '03) is currently enrolled in the Masters program for counseling at Regent University (in Va. Beach). She anticipates finishing in December '06! and hopes to get a job as a elementary school counselor.

Tom Campbell (R-MC '01) is currently in the doctoral clinical program at Virginia Commonwealth University.

James Coniglio (R-MC '04) is currently a life skills instructor for brain injured adults, working with the company Ability Beyond Disability.

Charles Cook (R-MC '94) Ph.D. in Psychopharmacology at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2000 is currently Assistant Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Medical College of Virginia.

Christopher Scott Dailey (R-MC’91) Rehabilitation Specialist, Rehab Health Care, Norfolk, VA.

Cheryl Dickter (R-MC '01) is currently working on her doctorate in social psychology at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Erin Doudera (R-MC ’94) Doctoral student in neuroscience program, University of Virginia.

Dr. Tom Franklin (R-MC '67) Professor and Department Chair of the Department of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Stout (in Menomonie, Wisconsin). After R-MC he served three years in the Army, received his M.S. in Educational Research at Bucknell University and his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at West Virginia University.

Erica Glasper (R-MC '02) is an assistant professor at the University of Maryland in the Neuroscience and Cognitive Science graduate program, where she heads the Behavioral Neuroendocrinology Lab.

Cathy Aurentz Griffin (R-MC ’00) Master’s student in education, mind, and brain program, Harvard University; Doctorate student in Education at the University of Virginia.

Dee Letter Jenkins (R-MC '99) teaches kindergarten at Pearson's Corner Elementary School in Mechanicsville, VA (In fact, Dr. Lambert's daughter was one of her students!).

Dr. Hendree E. Jones (R-MC '92), Ph.D. in Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia in 1997 is the Director for the Center for Addiction and Pregnancy and Associate Professor of Behavior Biology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. An APA Div 28 (Psychopharmacology and Substance Abuse) Fellow Dr. Hendree Jones has published 47 peer-reviewed articles, five book chapters and more than 75 research abstracts on topics such as drug and alcohol dependence and addictive disorders. She is currently principal investigator on four National Institute on Drug Abuse grants, and she has served on numerous Center for Substance Abuse Treatment advisory committees and has contributed internationally to addiction research. For example, in 2002, she reviewed the Australian guidelines for methadone and buprenorphine maintenance during pregnancy.

Dr. Sabra L. Klein (R-MC '92), Ph.D. in Psychology at Johns Hopkins University in 1998, is currently a professor in the Dept of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at Johns Hopkins University.

Jenelle Krishnamoorthy (R-MC '94), Ph.D. in Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University is currently a Society for Research in Child Development Fellow in Washington, D.C.

Robyn Diehl Lacks (R-MC '97) Ph.D. in Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University is currently teaching as an Assistant Professor in VCU's - L.Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs.

Stacie Lin (R-MC '02) is working on her doctorate in behavioral neuroscience at Georgia State University.

Catherine Lowry (R-MC '99) is completing her doctorate in the Neuroscience Program at the University of Chicago.

Martha Jane McD. Nicols (R-MC’91) Mental Health Therapist, Fairfax County Government, Fairfax, VA.

Melissa Mitchell (R-MC '98) is finishing up her Masters in Social Work at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.

Robert Morecock [now Morecook] (R-MC '68) earned his PhD in counseling psychology from the University of Houston in 1988 and currently teaches at Houston Community College. He is also the commanding officer of a military medical unit in the Texas State Guard [something like the state militia].

Cara Jean Long O'Neal (R-MC '99) M.Ed.('01) and Ed.S ('02) from College of William and Mary, currently a School Psychologist working for Henrico County Public Schools.

Sonya Peretti (R-MC '93), Masters of Education from the College of William and Mary, 1995, is a Licensed Professional Counselor with Draa S. Thompson and Associates, Yorktown, VA.

Amanda Jean Parks (R-MC ’91) Account Executive, The Martin Agency, Glen Allen, VA.

Julie Pike (R-MC '97) graduated from Quinnipiac University's post-baccalaureate program in Occupational Therapy.

Timothy P. Ring (R-MC '82) resides in Hanover County and is employed by the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of State Police. He was promoted to Lieutenant in August 2004, and is currently serving as the Assistant Human Resource Director in the Personnel Division. In his current capacity, he is the Coordinator of the seven Critical Incident Stress Management teams. He has frequent contact with a number of psychologists who review the results of MMPI and CPI tests, evaluate the suitability of Trooper candidates, provide fitness for duty evaluations, and provide stress management instruction and counseling.

Brienne Schlenke (R-MC '00) finishing up her Psy.D. at NOVA Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

John Thomas (R-MC '72) earned his Masters degree from Towson State University in School Psychology and is currently Head Master at Saint Mary's Hall, a college prep independent school in San Antonio, Texas.

Jennifer West (R-MC '01) works with the Autistic Inclusion Model (AIM) affiliated with the Norfolk Public School System.

Jennifer Whitney (R-MC ’96) Graduate student, doctoral program in clinical psychology, University of Virginia.
