Pre-Physician Assistant Alumni Success Stories

Randolph-Macon alumni in graduate school, and those with healthcare careers all agree: their R-MC education paved the way for their success. Through a challenging curriculum, one-on-one attention from professors who truly care, and a dedicated staff, the R-MC experience prepares students for success.

Melissa EvansEvans has been preparing for graduate school for several years. She worked closely with staff in The Edge, R-MC’s four-year career preparation program, as she set her sights on her future career. She also gained valuable hands-on training through an internship with Dr. Steven Reece at Advanced Orthopaedics in Richmond, Virginia. During January Term (J-term) 2014, Evans shadowed and assisted Reece. “I accompanied Dr. Reece as he examined patients, and I learned how to interpret X-rays and about the many treatment options available for patients suffering from a variety of injuries,” she says. “I was even able to observe several shoulder and knee surgeries. My internship allowed me to see what it will be like to work in a specialized field of medicine.”
