Rain Plan

In the event of rain on Friday afternoon, the Baccalaureate Reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church.

In the event of a light rain Saturday morning, Graduates will line up on the Jordan Wheat Lambert Historic Campus. Should a light rain fall, Commencement will be held outside on the Frank E. Brown Fountain Plaza. However, should there be a threat of heavy rain or the threat of an electrical storm, the Commencement Exercises will be moved indoors into Crenshaw Gymnasium.  (The rain call will be made by noon on Thursday, May 31.)

Rain Tickets

Tickets will only be required in the event of rain and the rain call will be made by noon on Thursday, May 31. Each graduate will be emailed four rain tickets in the form of QR codes on Friday, June 1 (if applicable). The graduate and the sponsor do not need tickets. All guests without tickets may watch Commencement on television in Blackwell Auditorium.

PLEASE NOTE: Only one QR code per guest. Once all 4 tickets for a graduate have been used, all other guests will be directed to the overflow venue. QR codes may be presented using a smart device, or the email may be printed out and scanned upon arrival.

A sponsor is any person of the graduate’s choosing. Most often the role of Sponsor is carried out by a parent. However, grandparents, siblings, faculty or staff members may serve as sponsors as well. Sponsors are limited to one sponsor per graduate. The sponsor will carry the graduate’s hood and sit directly behind the graduate for whom they are a sponsor. The sponsor will hood the graduate during the graduation ceremony.

Graduating seniors must be present PROMPTLY at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2 on the Jordan Wheat Lambert Historic Campus (Rain location: Alumni Gymnasium) to assemble in the proper order for the graduation ceremony. Seniors must have a cap and gown; the tassel should hang on the right. Sponsors should be seated in the marked seats in the Frank E. Brown Fountain Plaza with the graduate's hood no later than 9:45 a.m. The procession will move from the Jordan Wheat Lambert Historic Campus to the Frank E. Brown Fountain Plaza. In the case of rain, the procession will move from Alumni Gymnasium to the Brock Center.

Lunch will be served immediately following Commencement until 1:30 p.m. on the lawn between the McGraw-Page Library and Copley Science Center. All graduates and their families are invited to attend. There is no cost for the luncheon, however, reservations are required. Please email with the name of the graduate and the number of people planning to attend to make reservations.
