Financial Aid: Academic Scholarships
The Randolph-Macon College Presidential Scholars Program
Randolph-Macon's signature merit scholarship program for new students
is the Presidential Scholars Program. The program recognizes students
who have demonstrated the highest levels of academic achievement
and leadership.
Beginning for students applying for fall 2006, we are increasing
the amount of our Presidential Scholarships. Awards will range from
$7,500 to $20,000 per year and are renewable for up to four
years, provided the recipients maintain the required grade point
average.
The primary criterion for selection as a Presidential Scholar is
academic achievement. We also consider leadership in school and
the community, personal accomplishments or talents, and the personal
interview with a member of the Randolph-Macon faculty. Most scholarship
recipients will have a high school GPA above 3.2, competitive test
scores (SAT above 1100 on critical reading and math sections; ACT
above 24), and be in the top 25% of their high school classes.
All applicants to Randolph-Macon College are automatically considered
for a Presidential Scholarship, but you should apply to the college
no later than February 1. Eligible candidates will be invited
to campus for an interview during one of our scholarship programs
in December, January, February and March. Award recipients may also
qualify for other types of aid based on demonstrated need.

Coordinator.
The A. Purnell Bailey Pre-Ministerial Program for Ordained Ministry
The A. Purnell Bailey Pre-Ministerial Program for Ordained Ministry
is designed to encourage students who express an interest in a Christian
vocation involving pursuing a career in ordained ministry. Scholarships
are awarded to a limited number of selected students each year based
on several criteria.
Students selected for this program receive half-tuition scholarships for the first two years and full tuition, room and board for the
next two years, mentoring, meetings and activities with other Bailey
scholars, and assistance in fulfilling the requirements leading
to ordination in the United Methodist Church. Two internships are
also provided during their college career, one which is academic
focused and another which includes a stipend for work in a ministry
setting. Full details about this unique opportunity can be found
in the descriptive brochure on the Bailey Program (available from
the Admissions Office), and questions may be addressed to the Ministerial
Vocation Coordinator, Rev. Ed Johnson at edwardjohnson@rmc.edu.
