Financial Aid: How to Apply
Need Based Aid
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is
the only form required to apply for financial aid.
Apply
on line by visiting the following web page:
http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
Our Federal
Title IV Code is 003733
Register
for the PIN at www.pin.ed.gov
to sign your FAFSA online
Both
the student and at least one parent must have a PIN and sign the
FAFSA
The paper form is usually available by December 1 in your high
school guidance office or college financial aid office. There is
no cost for submitting this form either online or by paper. It must
not be submitted earlier than January 1. Based on the information
you supply, the FAFSA will determine your Expected
Family Contribution (EFC).
Once we have the results of your FAFSA, a financial aid package
can be prepared and offered. Financial aid award letters are mailed
in late March for entering students and in mid June for returning
students. FAFSA results (requests for financial aid) received after
the deadlines (March 1 - entering students; May 1 - returning
students) will be handled on a funds-available basis.
If your application for financial aid is selected by the Federal
Processor for verification, you will need to submit a signed copy
of your parents' and your own federal income tax returns to the
Financial Aid Office. Please do not submit these forms unless they
are requested.
Non-Need Based Aid
Academic Scholarships
Your admissions application and supporting documents serve as
your application for academic scholarships. All students accepted
for admission are considered for these awards.
TAG
The Virginia
Tuition Assistance Grant (TAG) application must be submitted
to the Financial Aid office by July 31 for priority funding. Applications
received after this date will be funded by the State Council of
Higher Education of Virginia (SCHEV) on a funds-available basis
only.
RMC Entitlement Grants
You must submit the R-MC Entitlement Eligibility
Form, which is located in the Financial Aid Forms
Bank.
We understand that the Financial Aid portion of the college admissions
process is often the most perplexing and misunderstood. If there
is anything we can do to make it easier, please give our financial
aid office a call at 1-804-752-7259 or e-mail us at financial-aid@rmc.edu.
