More than 40% of Randolph-Macon College students work on- and off-campus in skilled, unskilled, highly-skilled and paraprofessional positions, averaging between 10 and 20 hours a week.
Students involved in any of the work study programs enjoy a variety of benefits:
- Flexible hours around the student's academic and extracurricular activity schedule
- Valuable work experience
- Training in a particular field or industry (ie: child care, management, science)
- An opportunity for campus and/or community involvement
- Extra spending money or money that can be used toward the cost of education
- Excellent work references
Two types of work-study programs are available:
A Federal Work Study is federally funded and awarded to students demonstrating financial need. Students who qualify may take advantage of paid on and off-campus employment opportunities that not only support their financial need but also provide training, experience and excellent job references. A variety of options are available including community service agencies such as the Boys and Girls Club, Hanover Habitat for Humanity or tutoring at area elementary schools.
A College-funded Work Study Program is available and also open to students having no financial need. Student wages are paid from Randolph-Macon department budget allocations.
