THEN: The largest gift listed in the catalog for fiscal year 1899-1900 was a gift of dividend-bearing stock valued at $1,666 by John I. Pritchett to establish The Albert G. Pritchett Memorial Scholarship.
NOW: The largest contribution received by the college during the last fiscal year (1998-99) was a $1,041,600 gift from Mr. and Mrs. M. William Armistead '37 for the renovation of the Old Chapel.
