The Safe Zone Allies Program educates members of the College community about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) issues to create a network of allies who, together with members of the LGBT community, work to create a community of safety and full inclusion for all its members.

The Office of Student Life and the Office of the Chaplain offers workshops for faculty, staff, and student leaders designed to help them become more sensitive and informed allies for the LGBT community. At the completion of the workshop, participants will be offered the opportunity to sign a pledge agreeing to advance the Safe Zone mission and may receive a Safe Zone sticker to place in their workplace or where they live on campus, or a Safe Zone button, perfect for a jacket or backpack. Also, faculty, staff and student leaders may engage in advanced training and become certified to train others to be Safe Zone Allies.

The display of the Safe Zone sticker or button means that the owner has attended a Safe Zone workshop and signed an agreement to be supportive and affirming of the LGBT community. It does not mean that the owner identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, nor should it be inferred that those without Safe Zone stickers are unsupportive.

The Office of Student Life and the Office of the Chaplain offer two levels of Safe Zone Training:
| Level 1 |
Safe Zone Ally Training This workshop is designed to help faculty, staff, and student leaders to become more sensitive and informed allies for the LGBT community. |
| Level 2 |
Safe Zone Ally Train the Trainer This workshop is designed to teach Safe Zone Allies to facilitate Safe Zone Ally training for others in an effective and thoughtful manner. Participants will be instructed in appropriate pedagogy and instructive situational and case specific examples. Those completing the course will volunteer to conduct at least 2 trainings each year. |

A list of campus allies will be provided here in the Fall of 2012 after the first Level 1 Training. For more information and assistance, please contact the Office of Student Life at
