What is the Women’s
Resource Center?
The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) was developed by
the College in the mid-1990's as a tool to increase and enhance
the academic, leadership and social environment of Women at
Randolph-Macon College. The WRC now provides a variety of
services, leadership opportunities and social/educational
activities to the entire R-MC community around issues of gender
and women.
WRC Statement of Values
- All students desire and deserve safety, equity and an
environment that encourages their intellectual and emotional
growth.
- The WRC can enhance the experience of all students, faculty
and staff at Randolph-Macon by providing services and programs,
and taking leadership on educating the community about gender
issues.
- The WRC is a safe place to work, to learn, and to visit,
and all aspects of diversity in its employees and allies
are respected and welcomed.
What does the Women’s
Resource Center Do?
The WRC encourages a safe, respectful climate for all through
the following services, programs and activities:
Services
- Confidential, caring, one-on-one advocacy for students,
staff, and faculty on gender-related issues.
- Mentoring for students who are seeking support, education,
information and resources related to their personal, education
and professional issues. This service is free and open to
both men and women.
- A Resource Library.
Activities & Organizations
The WRC provides leadership& social opportunities through
membership to several student groups and organizations on
campus. They include:
Programs & Events
The WRC also sponsors programs, speakers, brown-bag luncheons
and roundtable discussions for the entire Randolph-Macon Community
throughout the academic year. Some topics discussed are self-esteem,
dating, family, women’s health, eating disorders, as
well as various academic topics.
