ACTIONS TO TAKE CHECKLIST
(What you must do to ensure the timely crediting of your financial aid to your account)
NEW STUDENTS
2013-2014
FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS
- REVIEW your Financial Aid Award Letter. REVIEW the College Fee Sheet and complete the Billing Calculation Worksheet to estimate your remaining balance owed to the college. For suggestions on how to cover your remaining balance please REVIEW Additional Financing Options at the bottom of the Billing Calculation Worksheet. It is expected that parents and students will resolve account balances prior to enrolling.
- Read theFinancial Aid Consumer Information Booklet, which contains details regarding your financial aid, including academic requirements for renewal of financial aid.
FOR STUDENTS
- If you wish to decline or reduce any of the awards offered, complete the Financial Aid Change Form. Without this form, we will assume you want all awards offered to you.
- To apply for a Federal Direct Student Loan you MUST: Complete the Entrance Counseling and Federal Direct Master Promissory Note on-line at www.studentloans.gov beginning June 1, 2013.
- To complete the Federal Perkins Loan process, you MUST: Complete the Federal Perkins Loan Master Promissory Note, which we will mail to you by mid-May.
- Virginia residents (if you and your parents are domiciled in Virginia), you MUST submit the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (TAG) application to the Financial Aid Office no later than July 31, 2013. Applications received after this date, are not guaranteed funding.
- On-campus jobs: we will post our jobs list beginning July 1. Students may contact the position supervisor by email to inquire about the position. R-MC does not place students in jobs. Students must locate possible jobs and initiate the job interview.
- Read the Financial Aid Consumer Information Booklet, which contains details regarding your financial aid. Note that page 3 shows our satisfactory academic progress policy.

FOR PARENTS
- To apply for a Federal Direct Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS), your parent MUST: Complete the Federal Direct PLUS Master Promissory Note and the application request on-line at www.studentloans.gov, beginning June 1, 2013. PLUS applicants must also submit a FAFSA, if you have not already done so.

June 1 ~ Begin to e-sign the Master Promissory Note (MPN) for Direct Student and Direct PLUS Loans
July 1 ~ On and off-campus jobs are available on our website
Aug.7 ~ Fall payment due in the Treasurer’s Office
Sept.2 ~ First day of classes for Fall term
Jan. 8 ~ Spring payment due in the Treasurer’s Office
Jan. 6 ~ First day of classes for January term
Feb.10 ~ First day of classes for Spring term
