The busy Sorority Recruitment week has passed by. Behind all the smiles and happiness of the girls with their new sisters, there has been a lot of time and efforts Tiffany Lamm, the Vice President of Recruitment, has put in for the success of the recruitment. “You can never underestimate sixty girls and their decisions. No matter how prepared you think you are, something will come as a surprise,” Tiffany said.
Tiffany is one of the most active leaders I have known on campus. She was involved with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization, has been an OL for the past 2 years, and a sister of AGD since Spring 2005 where she has held 3 Vice President Positions. Tiffany has also served on the Panhellenic Council for the last 2 years where she held two Vice President positions and was a Recruitment Guide both years. She cherishes all of the memories these organizations have given her and will never forget the friends she has made and connected with along the way.
Tiffany’s favorite class was the Katrina Relief course in J-term '06 with Professor Andrews, Dunkel and Franz. To Tiffany, it was definitely a memorable and gratifying experience to help so many families in need at the most tragic times in their lives. Tiffany’s favorite professor at RMC has been Professor Cathy Staples. She has been a tremendous help to Tiffany in the many accounting courses. “Professor Staples makes accounting seem so easy in the way she teaches and breaks everything down for her students.”
After 4 years at RMC, the achievement Tiffany is most proud of is being able to graduate on May 31, 2008. She has survived difficult classes while having the best time of her life. Being the first person in her family to attend a four year college means a lot to Tiffany and her family. After graduation Tiffany plans on working fulltime and taking extra classes to go towards the 150 credit hour rule in order to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam and eventually attend graduate school to pursue either a Masters of Accounting degree or MBA degree.
Her advice for the underclassmen is “to be organized, manage your time wisely, and remember why you are here-for academics, but don't forget to have fun.” She encourages everyone to get involved in different organizations and also do not be afraid to go to your professors because they can offer the best advice. “College is what you make it so if you don't enjoy it then you must be doing something wrong,” she said.
With Tiffany, four years at RMC went by so fast and her freshman year was just like yesterday. Yes, it’s true! With me, seven months at college has flown by in the blink of an eye. Without the leadership and inspiration of an active and considerate OL like Tiffany, I wonder if I am able to be successful in surviving my first year at RMC.
