As a rising senior, Pearson Hill, Business Economic major, commits himself to the Randolph-Macon community. He is a devoted member of Macon Noise, Habitat for Humanity, SGA, and Kappa Alpha. Giving him the opportunity to utilize his experience as an RA to help new RAs is the reason why Hill wants to be a mentor RA. Hill believes that being responsible is an essential factor in being a successful mentor RA. Since there are many duties for a mentor RA, such as duty night, paperwork, and hall management, responsibility is necessary. Besides responsibility, exercising good judgement concerning all aspects of the job is important as well. Paying attention to detail will contribute to the success.
Kaitlyn Allan is a sophomore majoring in French and International Studies. Helping new RAs to become better inspires her to be a Mentor RA. She enjoys working with other students and helps others to solve different problems. We know that there is usually a lot going on in our dorms. Allan always listens to others and tries to find a way to help. Because of her willingness to help, Allan got the position as a Mentor RA. She thinks that being open and able to listen to others makes her a successful RA. Other than being a mentor RA, Allan is active in RHA. Moreover, she is Panhellenic VP of education and editor and technology chair for Kappa Alpha Theta.
Catherine Noyes, a junior, has an amazing ability to manage time. Noyes is majoring in Econ/Bus, Biology, and Environmental Studies. Her minors are Journalism and Ethics. Noyes does excellent academically, but she is also very active on campus. Noyes is in Alpha Gamma Delta and the Franklin Debate Society. She is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Yellow Jacket Newspaper. Noyes has been an RA for a year and a half. As a successful RA, Noyes enjoys making bulletin boards and interacting with her residents. She does a great job with the position and helps to create a successful residence life experience for others. Noyes is very excited to have gotten the position as a mentor RA and is looking forward to next year.
Maryanne Dalla Valle is a sophomore whose major is Sociology and minor is Elementary Education. She learned a lot from her last year OL experience. Valle wants to take her involvement to the next step, to be a Head OL, focusing on the entire process of orientation. She believes that being responsible, trustworthy, caring, fun and willing to face any type of challenge are all the important factors, that make her a superior OL. In addition to her devoted involvement for orientation, Dalla Valle engages in many activities on campus. She is the founder and President of Macon Noise, a new spirit organization here on campus. She is also the incoming Vice President of Finance in Alpha Gamma Delta and a member of Habitat for Humanity.
Elizabeth (Bitsy) Cooper Johnson is a junior who enjoys acting, directing, and experimenting with scenic design. Her major is drama and minor is international studies. Johnson’s previous orientation leader experience leads her to apply for a Head OL position. She thinks that being an orientation leader is an extraordinarily rewarding and challenging step in her development as a Yellow Jacket and as a person. In addition, Johnson says that the excitement generated by Orientation, and by working with her peers and mentors, is contagious, she can’t help but have fun! Beyond her involvement with Orientation, Johnson stays actively involved with issues that concern the campus. She is also a Resident Assistant in Thomas Branch, a member of Macon Peer Response, and a supporter of the Organization for Sexual Minorities and Allies.
